Notification Channels

RoadL sends notifications through multiple channels:

In-App Notifications

  • πŸ“± Appear within RoadL app
  • Notification bell icon shows count
  • Permanent record of all notifications
  • Can read anytime

Push Notifications

  • πŸ“² Pop up on your phone screen
  • Appear even when app is closed
  • Lock screen alerts
  • Sound and vibration

Email Notifications

  • πŸ“§ Sent to registered email address
  • Detailed information
  • Permanent record
  • Good for reference

SMS Text Messages

  • πŸ“± Sent to verified phone number
  • Quick alerts
  • No app required
  • Time-sensitive updates

Types of Notifications

Appointment Notifications

Clinician Assigned:

  • When provider is matched to your visit
  • Provider name and credentials
  • Notification channels: In-app, Push

Track Clinician:

  • Provider is on the way to you
  • Real-time tracking available
  • Notification channels: In-app, Push, SMS

Appointment Modified:

  • Changes to your appointment
  • New date/time details
  • Notification channels: In-app, Push, Email

Appointment Cancelled:

  • Visit has been cancelled
  • Cancellation reason
  • Rebooking options
  • Notification channels: All channels

Appointment Scheduled:

  • Visit confirmed with date/time
  • Provider details (after assignment)
  • Notification channels: In-app, Push, Email

In Progress:

  • Provider has arrived and started visit
  • Duration tracking
  • Notification channels: In-app, Push

Completed/Feedback:

  • Visit finished successfully
  • Request to provide feedback
  • Notification channels: In-app, Push, Email

Provider Unassigned:

  • Provider had to cancel
  • ROC finding replacement
  • Notification channels: In-app, Push, Email, SMS

Payment Notifications

Payment Successful:

  • Charge processed successfully
  • Receipt available
  • Notification channels: Email, In-app

Payment Failed:

  • Card declined or payment issue
  • Action required
  • Notification channels: All channels

Refund Processed:

  • Refund issued to your account
  • Timeline for refund appearance
  • Notification channels: Email, In-app

Security Notifications

Phone Verification:

  • Verification code delivery
  • Account security
  • Notification channels: SMS

Login from New Device:

  • Account access alert
  • Security verification
  • Notification channels: Email, Push

Password Changed:

  • Password update confirmation
  • Notification channels: Email

Visit PIN:

  • PIN reminder before visit
  • Failed PIN attempts
  • Notification channels: SMS, In-app

Account Updates

Profile Updated:

  • Changes to your profile
  • Confirmation of updates
  • Notification channels: Email

Insurance Verified:

  • Coverage confirmation
  • Verification status
  • Notification channels: Email, In-app

Family Member Added:

  • New family member profile
  • Notification channels: Email

Accessing Notification Settings

From Settings Menu

  1. Open RoadL Patient App
  2. Tap menu icon (three lines)
  3. Select Settings
  4. Tap Notifications
  5. See all notification preferences

Quick Access

From any notification:

  1. Tap notification
  2. Tap settings gear icon
  3. Adjust that notification type
  4. Save changes

Customizing Notification Preferences

Individual Controls

Each notification type has separate toggles:

For each notification:

  • βœ… Turn on/off entirely
  • πŸ“± Enable/disable push notifications
  • πŸ“§ Enable/disable email
  • πŸ“± Enable/disable SMS

Example configuration:

  • Appointment Scheduled: Push βœ…, Email βœ…, SMS ❌
  • Payment Failed: Push βœ…, Email βœ…, SMS βœ…
  • Completed/Feedback: Push βœ…, Email ❌, SMS ❌

By Category

Control entire categories:

Appointment Notifications:

  • Toggle all appointment-related notifications
  • Turn off if you prefer quiet mode
  • Re-enable before scheduled visits

Payment Notifications:

  • Financial transaction alerts
  • Recommended: Keep enabled
  • Important for account security

Security Notifications:

  • Cannot be disabled (required for security)
  • Verification codes
  • Account access alerts
  • Security warnings

Quiet Hours

Coming Soon: Set do-not-disturb times

  • No push notifications during hours
  • Critical alerts still come through
  • Emergency notifications override

Notification History

Viewing Past Notifications

Access all your notifications:

  1. Tap Notification bell icon (top right)
  2. See notification list
  3. Scroll through all notifications
  4. Tap any notification for details

Notification Details

Each notification shows:

  • Type of notification
  • Date and time received
  • Full message content
  • Related appointment (if applicable)
  • Action buttons
  • Read/unread status

Filtering Notifications

Organize your notification history:

Filter by:

  • All notifications
  • Unread only
  • Read notifications
  • By date range
  • By type

Time periods:

  • This Week
  • Last 30 Days
  • Last 90 Days
  • Custom range

Managing Notifications

Mark as Read:

  • Tap notification
  • Automatically marked read
  • Or swipe right

Mark as Unread:

  • Swipe left on notification
  • Tap "Mark Unread"
  • Returns to unread list

Delete Notification:

  • Swipe left
  • Tap "Delete"
  • Removes from history

Mark All as Read:

  • Tap menu icon (three dots)
  • Select "Mark All as Read"
  • Clears notification badge

Push Notification Settings

Enable Push Notifications

First-time setup:

  1. During app install, allow notifications when prompted
  2. If skipped, go to phone Settings:
    • iOS: Settings β†’ RoadL β†’ Notifications β†’ Allow
    • Android: Settings β†’ Apps β†’ RoadL β†’ Notifications β†’ Allow

Notification Styles

iOS Options:

  • Lock Screen display
  • Notification Center
  • Banners (temporary/persistent)
  • Badge app icon
  • Sounds
  • Critical Alerts (for emergencies)

Android Options:

  • Status bar
  • Lock screen
  • Heads-up notifications
  • Badge app icon
  • Sound and vibration
  • Notification LED

Sound and Vibration

Customize notification alerts:

  1. Go to Settings β†’ Notifications
  2. Tap Sound & Alerts
  3. Choose:
    • Notification sound
    • Vibration pattern
    • LED color (Android)
  4. Test notification

Notification Previews

Control what shows on lock screen:

Options:

  • Show All - Full notification content
  • Hidden - "Notification" only
  • When Unlocked - Content after unlocking

For privacy:

  • Use "Hidden" or "When Unlocked"
  • Prevents others seeing your health info

Email Notification Settings

Email Preferences

  1. Go to Settings β†’ Notifications β†’ Email
  2. Toggle individual email types
  3. Verify email address correct
  4. Save preferences

Email Frequency

Immediate: Real-time emails for critical updates

Daily Digest: (Coming Soon)

  • Summary of day's notifications
  • Sent once per day
  • Reduces email volume

Updating Email Address

  1. Go to My Profile
  2. Tap Email
  3. Update email address
  4. Verify new email
  5. Notifications route to new address

Email Delivery Issues

If not receiving emails:

Check:

  • Spam/junk folder
  • Email address correct in profile
  • Email preferences enabled
  • Not blocking roadlcare.com domain

Add to safe senders:

SMS Notification Settings

Text Message Preferences

  1. Go to Settings β†’ Notifications β†’ SMS
  2. Toggle SMS for each notification type
  3. Verify phone number correct
  4. Save changes

Message Frequency

What to expect:

  • Verification codes (as needed)
  • Critical appointment alerts
  • Visit PIN reminders
  • Emergency notifications
  • Average: 2-5 texts per appointment

SMS Opt-Out

To stop all SMS:

  • Reply STOP to any RoadL text
  • Or disable in app settings
  • Or text STOP to 55555

To resume:

  • Reply START to any RoadL text
  • Or re-enable in app settings

Note: Cannot opt out of security codes and critical alerts

Carrier Charges

  • Standard SMS rates apply
  • Check with your carrier
  • RoadL doesn't charge for texts
  • Messages sent from short code 55555

Managing Notification Volume

Too Many Notifications?

Reduce notification volume:

  1. Disable non-critical types:

    • Turn off feedback requests
    • Disable promotional updates
    • Keep only essential alerts
  2. Choose fewer channels:

    • Pick push OR email (not both)
    • Use in-app only for less urgent
  3. Use filters:

    • Archive read notifications
    • Focus on unread only

Missing Important Notifications?

Ensure you receive critical alerts:

  1. Enable all channels for:

    • Appointment Cancelled
    • Provider Unassigned
    • Payment Failed
    • Security alerts
  2. Check phone settings:

    • Notifications allowed
    • Not in Do Not Disturb
    • Sound enabled
  3. Verify contact info:

    • Phone number verified
    • Email address correct
    • Both tested and working

Notification Troubleshooting

Not Receiving Push Notifications

Check these:

  1. App permissions:

    • Phone Settings β†’ RoadL β†’ Notifications β†’ Enabled
  2. In-app settings:

    • RoadL Settings β†’ Notifications β†’ Push enabled
  3. Phone settings:

    • Not in Do Not Disturb mode
    • Battery saver not blocking
    • Focus mode not active
  4. Try:

    • Restart phone
    • Reinstall app
    • Log out and back in

Email Notifications Not Arriving

Solutions:

  1. Check spam folder
  2. Verify email address in profile
  3. Add to safe senders
  4. Check email settings in app
  5. Wait 5-10 minutes (delay can occur)
  6. Contact email provider about blocking

SMS Not Received

Troubleshooting:

  1. Phone number correct? Verify in profile
  2. SMS enabled? Check carrier plan
  3. Not blocked? Check blocked numbers
  4. Carrier issue? Check signal strength
  5. Try resending verification if applicable

Duplicate Notifications

Receiving same notification multiple times?

Causes:

  • Multiple devices logged in
  • App syncing issue
  • Server retry

Solutions:

  • Log out of unused devices
  • Update to latest app version
  • Clear app cache
  • Contact support if persists

Best Practices

Recommended Settings

For most users:

  • βœ… All appointment notifications enabled
  • βœ… Push + Email for critical updates
  • βœ… Push only for routine updates
  • βœ… SMS for time-sensitive alerts
  • βœ… Security notifications (can't disable)

For frequent users:

  • Email digest (when available)
  • In-app only for non-urgent
  • Push for time-sensitive only

For minimal notifications:

  • In-app only (check regularly)
  • Email for payment/security only
  • Push disabled except emergencies

Privacy Considerations

Protect your health information:

  • Hide notification previews on lock screen
  • Use generic notification sounds
  • Don't share device with others
  • Log out on shared devices
